Social Engineering

Social Engineering is the technique of manipulating people, so they give up confidential information. These types of information could be different from one person to another. However, criminals are usually trying to trick people by taking their passwords, banks information, or installing malicious files into their computers by secret and they could take a full control of these computers.

Types of Social Engineering:

  1. Phishing: is the advanced method of social engineering attacks that are typically presented in the design of an email, chat, web advertisement or website that has been created to represent a real system and organization.
  2. Pretexting: a hacker produces a false feeling of trust between themselves and the end user by representing a co-worker or a form of authority that is completely known to an end user in order to get access to login information.
  3. Baiting: involves propose something enticing to an end user, in the way of exchange for login information or private data.


Ways to protect yourself & your environment:

Strange proposals are always fake.

Be aware of any download.

Requests for financial information should be deleted.

Spam filters needs to be set to high.

Install antivirus software, firewalls, always keep the operating systems up to date.
